The Fashion Lexicon timeline project

Below are a series of decade by decade fashion panels (1850 - 2010) selected from fashionlexicon.net (archived material). These screenshots draw together both creative illustrations of period dress, and information on fashion and social influences for of each era.

The project, which was completed in 2011, combined both my research interests at the time, and passion for visual communication and  fashion illustration.

Each panel integrates a range of material that tries to provide a holistic picture of change during the period. Diverse social, political, cultural, economic and demographic changes mark the decades and give some background to why fashion and style changed its shape.
